It’s been awhile since our last contest, so we’ve decided to open the 2014 season swinging for the fences. Who doesn’t love a a little extra motivation to lose a few pound and get in shape?
The Amazing Foot Race at Ageless and Ageless Squared
The Details:
- Starts January 26th and ends February 24th
- Members choose their own groups of 4. All team members must be members of Ageless or Ageless Squared. If you want to participate and don’t have a group of 4, please sign up because we will have a lot of members without a full team.
The Idea:
Teams will be in groups of 4. Each team will start from their respective gym, Ageless in Gillespie or Ageless 2 in Staunton. Each Sunday, we will announce 3 clues that correspond to a particular city. Each team must guess the location and “run” to that location. You will be required to use Google maps to estimate the distance from the gym to your guess. Once your team reaches its destination, one of your team members must post a picture on our Facebook page wearing a shirt/hat of a sports team located in that city, along with the total distance your team ran.
If your guess is correct, you will get 3 new clues to another location. Again, you will use Google maps to estimate the distance from your current location to the new location. There will be a total of 4 stops including the final destination.
If your team reaches the new destination before the end of each week, we will e-mail you 3 new clues. Otherwise, new clues will be released every Sunday at noon. Your team must reach each destination before starting towards the next destination even if the clues have already been posted.
The Rules:
- When we say “run”, we mean you can use the bike, ellipticals, or treadmills in the gym or you can run, walk, or bike outside. 1 mile will equal 1 mile no matter what mode of transportation you use.
- Each time you attend a class at either location, you get 3 miles.
- Your team accrues miles as a team. Thus, each individual does not have to run the entire distance.
- Everyone who completes the race by the end of the 4 weeks will receive a free limited edition “Amazing Foot Race” t-shirt.
- The grand prize is a free dinner for the team at Amore in Benld or Cavataios’ in Staunton. The team that reaches the final destination first is NOT automatically the winner. Every team that completes the race in the required time will have their team name thrown into a hat. We will draw the winning team from that. To make things fair, if your team finishes early, your team can have its name added to the hat again by completing “bonus” destinations.
- A box will be placed on the front counter at both locations. Forms will be placed next to it. You will be required to fill out a form every time you complete miles (1 per day), and drop it in the box. We will calculate team totals each day.
Team sign up forms will be available at the front desk at each location on Friday. Sign ups are due January 23rd.
1st Location Clues
1. This quarterback was working at the local store before he led his team in this city to a Superbowl.
2. Iced Tea was invented at the World’s Fair in this city in 1904.
3. Did you say you like beer? Stop by one of the largest breweries in this city.
