6 Simple Steps to Conquering Your Goals

A habit is a behavior that we repeat without thought or excuse. Some habits improve our health while others worsen it. Seek to create and incorporate as many health improving habits as possible into your daily routine.

I use the following simple system to form healthy habits in my life. You can use it the same way I do to improve your health.

6 Steps to Creating Healthy Habits

1) Think about why.

Some habits are born out of necessity, when the doctor tells you to lose weight or else etc… While others are created because of a desire that comes from within us. If you are going to do something that’s difficult, such as exercise, repeatedly for a long time it’s important to understand why you are doing it.

2) Set a goal.

Having a goal makes you much more likely to succeed than not having one. A goal gives you clear focus and direction. When you are chasing after something like better health that is difficult to achieve it’s important to be able to focus clearly on one thing so you don’t get distracted along the way.

3) Have a plan.

Now that you see what your goal is you need to have a plan to get there. What specific behaviors will you need to do, and when will you need to do them? If your goal is to look more fit and toned, how many times a week will you need to workout, and what do you need to do at each workout? Failure to plan is planning to fail.

4) Commit to your goal and plan.

Make a commitment to yourself to follow through with your plan. No excuses or distractions affect you if you are committed. Vow to have tunnel vision and stay the course no matter what life throws at you.

5) Brilliantly execute your plan.

Nothing happens without action. We can think and plan all day, but results only happen through action. Your behaviors will determine your outcomes.

6) Celebrate your results.

When you work hard for a long time to achieve a goal take a minute and celebrate what you’ve done. You’ve put in the time and energy to achieve something that most others won’t. The journey is it’s own rewards, but it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the outcome.
