5 Lessons We Learn From Exercising

ageless training

1) Keep going even when results aren’t obvious.

Results happen so slowly that you don’t notice the changes to your body. We all hit physical and mental plateaus from time to time, but the lesson is to believe in the process in keep going in spite of an apparent lack of results.

It’s even harder to keep going without seeing obvious results when the process is something as tough as working out.

2) Productivity produces results. Activity does not.

We only have so much time to spend in the gym each day. Results come from being productive and not just active during this time. 30 minutes of walking, talking, and stretching won’t produce the same results as 30 minutes of intense, metabolic strength training. To reach our physical goals we have to maximize the time that we have for exercise.

3) Forming healthy exercise habits carries over into other aspects of our life.

Make something healthy and positive like exercise a habit, and we are much more likely to form positive habits in other areas of our life. This can lead to making more money by doing a better job at work, making more time to spend with your family, and putting in the time and energy to achieve philanthropic goals and initiatives.

4) We cannot improve without facing resistance.

Taking the easy road is what keeps us where we are at. It’s tough to get to the gym and do something as discomforting as lifting heavy weights on a regular basis. Overcoming the weight and resistance is what pushes us forward.

If it were easy everyone would look good and feel good about themselves. It’s the resistance that causes some of us to push harder and that causes some to shrink from the challenges of life.

5) Physical self-improvement increases self-confidence.

When you look good you feel good, and when you feel good you look good. Reaching goals and resetting your limits with your physical fitness improves your self-esteem and your self-confidence. If you can reach a goal inside the gym you can reach one outside of it.

Success breeds success, and we can create success for ourselves through persistent, consistent hard work in the weight room. Most of us have no idea how much we are capable of until we set a high goal, organize our life around achieving it, and don’t quit until we get it.
