SPORT – Week 1 Workout 4 Gameday

SPORT W1:W4 GameDay

Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure

Crossfit nicknames their workouts, which I like because it makes them easy to remember.  It’s a lot easier to say we’re doing Murph today than saying we’re doing a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 unweighted squats, and another 1 mile run to finish. That’s a mouthful.

So, I’ve named the GameDay workouts after something very near and dear to my heart. It’s been a huge influence in my life, and I don’t know where I’d be without it. It’s made me laugh. It’s made me cry. It’s inspired me. It’s made me think.

The GameDay workouts are named after my favorite episodes of The Office.

Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure”

This two-part episode easily makes it in my top 5  best episodes of all-time for The Office

Side note: If you haven’t ranked your favorite episodes of The Office, I’m not for sure we can be friends. And, if you dislike The Office or have never seen it, I’m 98% confident I don’t like you. And if you are one of those people that say, “I don’t know why everyone finds this so funny.” punch yourself in the face right now.

Seriously though, what’s not to like about this episode. Michael hits Meredith with his car, Jim breaks up with Karen and secretly starts dating Pam (PB&J), Dwight kills Angela’s cat, Pam gets a virus on her computer from downloading a celebrity sex tape, a reference is made to Meredith’s bat bite (which also is an awesome episode), Michael organizes a charity 5k, Pam sees Michael naked, Michael carbo loads before the race and ends up collapsing, and in the end both Meredith and Michael end up in the hospital together.

I’m seriously laughing out loud just thinking about it. Oh, how I miss The Office.

Anywho, you may be asking yourself what this episode has in common with today’s GameDay workout… Well, no one wanted to run in Michael’s charity 5k. In fact, he had to make it mandatory so enough of his coworkers would participate. Even at that, Oscar, Stanley, and Creed still cheated and took a taxi instead of running. However, after it was all said and done, everyone, even Toby, was proud to have participated in the charity run. So although we’re not racing for a cure for rabies, we are racing for a cure for the weekday blues. Lace up your running shoes, stretch your hammies, and dominate this GameDay workout. You’ll be proud of yourself once it’s done.

And by the way, why do we have a weekly GameDay workout?

Because exercising can be boring. I mean really boring. That’s why people lost interest and stop doing it. They don’t treat it like a game. There’s no challenge. No scoreboard. No immediate feedback on how well (or poorly) you’re doing.  Bahhhhriinnnnngggg.

So with SPORT the 4th workout of the week is called GameDay, and it’s a challenge that changes weekly and is repeated quarterly to test yourself and see if you’re really improving. So get hyped and rise to the challenge.
