4th Quarter Advanced Basketball Skills Training – Only 4 spots open

4th Quarter Basketball Training

It’s been 5 years since we started 4th Quarter Training. We’ve been extremely blessed to work with a handful of great high school basketball players throughout Macoupin, Madison, and Montgomery counties. Now that athletes in our current class are either upperclassmen or moving on to play at college, we’ve opened up 4 more spots in our younger training session, which ranges from 7th grade -high school freshmen.

What is 4th Quarter Training?

It’s small group basketball skill training focusing entirely on the fundamentals all great players possess. Specifically, we focus on shooting, dribbling, and 1-on-1 moves.

How is it different from a normal basketball camp?

For one, we train 12 months out of the year. That allows us to create a specific, progressive plan for each athlete, thereby building on each athlete’s strengths and improving each athlete’s weaknesses. Repetition is key, and a long-term training plan allows us to maximize the amount of repetitions needed to etch the habits athletes need to excel at the high school and collegiate level.

Additionally, our focus is entirely on the fundamentals. We are not here to entertain our athletes. We’re here to make them better. Our training is repetitive and boring at times. However, that’s the most efficient method to create the fundamental motor skills they need to exceed. Being in a small group atmosphere, we’re able to correct almost every repetition an athlete performs. Attention to detail is key.

For example, we firmly believe the crossover should be the foundation of all one-on-one moves. It is a keystone skill. Most young athletes make two critical technique mistakes with the crossover: 1) They place their hand on top of the ball instead of on the side. This creates a “pound” instead of a “whip” which results in a slow, high, short range crossover that can be easily stolen. 2) When performing the crossover, a young athlete tends to get her ball-hand foot too far forward away from her center of mass. This creates a pull in the lower body instead of a push reducing the explosiveness of the crossover.

Finally, it’s all about the atmosphere. Our athletes WANT to be training. They understand the value of practice and hard work. They want to be the best. They aren’t pushed to do it by their parents or grandparents. You will be surrounded by driven athletes that push you to succeed, pick you up when you fail, and motivate you when you feel like you have nothing left.
